2024 Nissan Leaf SV Release Date, Models, Price

2024 Nissan Leaf SV Release Date, Models, Price – All-electric driving is no longer the norm. The 2024 Nissan Leaf was one of the first electric vehicles to gain public acceptance, although not entirely for the right reasons.

After two years as a bulbous hatchback with a limited range, the new Leaf looks and drives like a regular car—and it has a normal range. As with last year, the Leaf is available in 150-mile Leaf and 226-mile Leaf Plus models, respectively, with 40- and 62-kwh lithium-ion batteries.

Every 2024 Nissan Leaf sold this year includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and active safety features such as automated emergency braking, dynamic lane control, and blind-spot monitors. The Leaf now has a more refined appearance and fits neatly within Nissan’s portfolio. All the hot aesthetics are present: Nissan’s iconic grille in the shape of a boomerang, a floating roof, and a large touchscreen. Wrapping all of these elements is a rather conventional hatchback shape—which is a good thing. The Leaf seats approximately four adults comfortably, but five is a stretch. Legroom may concern tall rear-seat passengers, but the upright seating position alleviates this issue. The Leaf can conceal more than 23 cubic feet of stuff behind the second row.

Every Leaf comes standard with automatic emergency braking, and the top-of-the-line trims include active lane control and adaptive cruise control to create what Nissan calls ProPilot Assist. While ProPilot is not a hands-free system, it can alleviate some of the stress associated with a drive home by taking over some driving chores (though attention is still desperately required). The base Leaf S model lacks creature comforts and does not include a conventional fast-charging port. A 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty are included in the price. They also get cloth trim, 16-inch covered wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, active safety systems, and a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Interior

It’s quieter than practically every other compact car on the road—almost silent. However, its small-car origins are evident in certain interior materials and seat comfort. Starting with an average score of 5, the Leaf earns an extra point for its cargo space—it is, after all, a 2024 Nissan Leaf hatchback. The front seats were updated a few years ago and offer better hip and back support than prior models, but they lack shoulder bolsters for taller drivers. Long legs will fit comfortably up front, but long arms should also be attached; the Leaf’s tilting steering wheel does not telescope for shorter arms.

The rear seat has 33.5 inches of legroom, slightly more than the figures show; the seating position is upright, and 6-footers can sit behind other 6-footers. The rear seat’s middle position is a non-starter; there is not enough space for a grown adult to sit between other grown adults. With the second row upright, the Leaf has a cargo capacity of 23.6 cubic feet. When the second row is tilted forward, the volume increases to 30 cubic feet. While the Leaf does not feel luxurious, the electric vehicle is quieter and has higher-quality interior materials than Nissan’s smaller, less expensive vehicles, such as the Nissan Versa.

Engine

The Leaf Plus’s front-wheel-drive electric engine produces 214 horsepower and 250 pound-feet torque. It has a range of 215 or 226 miles on a 62-kwh battery, depending on trim level and tire size, although that range is reduced by 10% or more in freezing weather. The regular Leaf’s electric motor produces 147 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque, and its 40-kwh lithium-ion battery provides around 150 miles of range. Nissan returned the Leaf’s suspension and steering two years ago to give it a more natural feel and avoid the overboost of the previous model.

As with many other electric vehicles, the Leaf has immediate torque off the line, which gives it a perkier, brighter feel than its economy-car appearance would suggest. The performance of the Leaf varies depending on the drive mode selected. In standard way, the Leaf Plus has enough propulsion to chirp its front tires as it exits a parking lot—a feat made less impressive by the fact that it is rolling on low-resistance tires—and cruise along at highway speeds without incident.
