2024 Nissan Maxima SR Release Date, Price, Specs

2024 Nissan Maxima SR Release Date, Price, Specs – The 2024 Nissan Maxima is a four-door sedan comparable to the Altima, but with a higher price tag and a standard V-6 engine. It looks sporty and stylish, which puts it up against the Acura TLX, as well as the Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, and Honda Accord. It’s far better than normal, thanks to sufficient power, improved crash safety, and a distinctive design.

As part of a new 40th Anniversary edition, the most expensive model now has red leather upholstery and gloss-black trim. Meanwhile, the base costs of the S and SL Maximas have been raised. The Maxima converts the Altima’s business-casual look into a racing suit. It’s sleek yet commanding, with exaggerated details ranging from the deep V-neck grille to the heavy haunches. It is a cornerstone of Nissan’s “floating-canopy” design philosophy, and it is a lovely vehicle, with a cockpit that wraps around the driver and provides tactile controls rather than touchscreens.

The Maxima is powered by a 300-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine that sends power to the front wheels through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). While Maxima’s motor is unquestionably quick, it drones and lacks responsiveness, even more so when coupled with paddle shifters that cycle through preset shift ratios. It performs well as a result of its plush ride and precise steering, even more so in the SR grade, which features 19-inch wheels, beefier suspension settings, and those paddle shifters.

Interior

The inside of the 2024 Nissan Maxima is nearly identical to that of the four-door Altima. It’s not surprising that they’re architecturally related. The Maxima accommodates its version of that running gear with excellent front seats, but people and their luggage are crammed into an absurdly small back seat and trunk.

We give it a six here. The front seats are fairly supportive, and since the old basic model was discontinued, all Maximas now have leather upholstery. The seats are comfortable and well-bolstered, making them excellent for long rides. For additional body traction, the SR versions have a synthetic suede trim.

Legroom is limited to 34.2 inches in row two. Two adults, not three, will fit, and the Maxima’s sloping roofline decreases headroom in the rear seat. The Maxima’s trunk is 14.3 cubic feet, which is smaller than the trunks of many mid-size sedans—in fact, it is identical to that of the Sentra. It more than compensates for lost territory in terms of quality and finish; the Maxima’s interior feels substantial. It’s sufficiently opulent to justify a base price of around $40,000.

Engine

The V-6 engine separates the Maxima from its less expensive siblings. It’s a powerful engine: the 3.5-liter V-6 develops 300 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque. It is, however, connected to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), which negates the engine’s exhilarating side.

What works well in a Z coupe is obscured by the CVT’s reactions as it switches pulleys and belts in a manner reminiscent of a cogged-gear automatic gearbox. When it lumbers and drones through its rev range, the vehicle has the sensation of an economy car rather than a performance sedan—but it’s still quick enough to accelerate to 60 mph in less than seven seconds.

Although the Maxima SR features paddle shifters with eight preset ratios, the formula for mediocrity has already been found. While the V-6 puts it above the Altima, does it become more sporty as a result? Indeed, the Maxima’s most distinguishing trait is its comfy ride.

While the Maxima is hardly a sports sedan, it does offer rather quick handling to compliment its soft ride. The SR’s beefed-up suspension and improved brakes amp up the intensity a notch or two, but for more than $40,000, there are a number of sport sedans that are admittedly smaller but far more enjoyable to drive.

The $37,915 Maxima SV’s base price is the least expensive, but it still boasts 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather upholstery, and navigation. Additionally, we appreciate the $43,075 sport-tuned Maxima SR, which comes standard with 19-inch wheels and a stiffer suspension.
