New 2024 Nissan Z Nismo Models, Release Date, Redesign – The 2024 Nissan Z is one of the last of a vanishing breed of naturally-aspirated sports cars, which can be linked to the Z’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a classic ethos, which some may describe as vulgar. The Nissan Z has undergone few changes over the years, and even now, in the 50th anniversary year of the Z-car, the tiny two-door coupe has undergone few changes while being on the market for more than a decade.
Even though this uncompromising philosophy has made the Nissan Z so appealing, it has outlived its intended lifespan, and its age cannot be overlooked. Especially in comparison to more contemporary class competitors like the Toyota GR Supra. Still, the Z has a tuned-up version of the standard Nissan Z’s 3.7-liter V6 engine. This engine sends 350 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed automatic transmission.
2024 Nissan Z Redesign
Although a 50th Anniversary Edition trim has been added to the regular 2024 Nissan Z coupe lineup, the Z has received no noticeable upgrades for the 2019 model year based on the Z Sport trim. Either it’s time to bury the Z Coupe with its conventional Z Roadster cousin, or it’s time to give it the substantial redesign it desperately requires. As competitors profit from cutting-edge technology, refined building techniques, and modern features, the Z does the Z brand no favors.
The HID bi-functional xenon headlamps and LED DRLs with black arrowhead headlight bezels to adorn the deeply sculpted aluminum front fascia, which is accented by a fully integrated chin spoiler with iconic Z red stripe highlights extending to the distinctive side sill protectors. LED-illuminated Z side marker badges adorn the side fenders, while 19-inch Z forged aluminum RAYS wheels fill the wheel arches. An arrowhead-shaped LED taillight and an integrated rear ducktail spoiler complete the vehicle’s overall appearance.
As a vehicle that has received little attention since its birth in 2009, the Z’s interior reveals its age at first glance. The cockpit mimics that of a commercial airplane, with an assortment of gauges, knobs, and buttons strewn across the driver’s side dash and down the front center console. The central control arrangement is driver-centric, bringing everything within easy reach even though the functions are simple to understand.
Nissan has blessed the Z’s inside with fine-quality materials, including leather-appointed seats with Alcantara inserts and only a few hard-touch plastics, despite the vehicle’s age. As for the seats themselves, they are on the stiffer side with performance-oriented bolstering. Even though there is a lot of space inside, there is a chance that people will occasionally bump elbows because the seats are only separated by a small center armrest.
Overall, the Z’s cabin is spacious, especially for taller people, but it can be challenging to find an appropriate driving position with limited seating and steering adjustment. The Alcantara-upholstered Recaro racing seats are a welcome addition to the Z, but their low-slung work makes them difficult to enter and exit without scuffing the bolsters. They are pleasantly shaped and highly supportive but unsuitable for long journeys.
The Z utilizes the same 3.7-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine as the ordinary Z Nissan but is tuned to produce an additional 18 horsepower and six pound-feet of torque over the original model, for total outputs of 350 horsepower and 276 lb-feet. A 2.4-inch Z cat-back exhaust system that costs $1,850 can be added to the powertrain to give it an extra 5.3 horsepower and 2.5 pound-feet of torque and a more aggressive sound.Even though the Z’s V6 engine is a bit rough, it is a classic piece of engineering and a key part of what makes the Z so interesting and unrefined.
The Z’s standard six-speed manual transmission incorporates a SynchroRev Match function that optimizes smooth downshifts by electronically blipping the throttle during downshifts. In addition to being a major buzzkill, the optional seven-speed automatic transmission is sluggish and clumsy. It deprives the driver of the innate involvement that the Z offers by nature. Any traditionalist would concur that the manual is the superior option.
2024 Nissan Z Release Date and Price
The base MSRP of the 2024 Z is $45,790, the same as in 2019, but the automatic transmission will cost an additional $1,400. Not included are tax, registration, and licensing duties, along with Nissan’s $895 destination and handling fee. There are no special packages available for the Z, but a variety of performance and aesthetic improvements are available. The Z’s base price will increase to slightly more than $50,000 for a fully equipped vehicle.
