Nissan Altima 2024 Platinum Model, Specs, Price

Nissan Altima 2024 Platinum Model, Specs, Price – While other manufacturers have discontinued sedan manufacturing, Nissan has remained loyal to the body style, culminating in the all-new Nissan Altima’s introduction in 2019. While the Altima is a competent midsize sedan, it faces stiff competition from updated competitors such as the Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5, and Toyota Camry. Nissan outfitted the 2024 Nissan Altima with a svelte design, available all-wheel drive, and a variable compression turbocharged engine to help it stay afloat in a crowded sedan market. The latter has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, which makes it more lively to drive.

The Altima is a good car in general, but in its third model year following a makeover, it may benefit from more refinement. Nissan sold more Rogues last year than it did Altimas, with the older, outmoded model accounting for a sizable portion of those crossover sales. The newly redesigned Rogue for the 2024 model year includes some modern technologies that are not available in the Altima at a comparable price point. A week behind the wheel of the 2024 Altima SR VC-Turbo showed that this is still a capable sedan, but Nissan may have a difficult time convincing consumers to move from crossovers to sedans.

Nissan is slightly reorganizing its 2024 Nissan Altima lineup. The SR replaces the SV, which was formerly the entry-level model. As a result, the trim levels S, SV, SR, SL, and Platinum have been added to the lineup. The SV trim level now includes a new Premium Pack, while the SR trim level is the only one to offer the more powerful VC-Turbo engine. It does not perform exactly as required, but more on that later.

The S model comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels covered in plastic, while the SV and SL models come standard with 17-inch alloy wheels. The SR and Platinum trim levels come standard with 19-inch alloy wheels and 235/40 tires. The more sporty SR trim level features a dark chrome V-Motion grille. All trim levels, save the entry-level S, include standard LED projector headlights with LED daytime running lights. Finally, both the SR VC-Turbo and Platinum models include a glass sunroof.

Interior

The 2017 Nissan Altima’s interior is appealingly contemporary and straightforward, with a nice balance of colors and trimmings. An eight-inch “floating” touchscreen provides excellent vision (seven-inch on basic trim). Nissan did a fantastic job of compartmentalizing the air conditioning and temperature controls. Despite the use of a few low-grade materials, the ergonomics are excellent. These are typically well concealed and will not be a source of everyday irritation.

Nissan automobiles have some of the most sumptuous seats available. They’re dubbed Zero Gravity Seats, and while some marketing executives may have taken the title a little too far, they function. It’s essentially a seat with 14 distinct pressure points that are supposed to maintain a neutral posture, increase blood flow, and reduce weariness. Nissan’s word is adequate in light of the fact that we did not wear a blood pressure monitor during the test. Standard features include air conditioning, remote start, and lane departure warning.

Engine

The base engine is a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated. When driven in front-wheel drive, it produces 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, but that drops to 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet when driven in all-wheel drive. While this engine looks to be adequate in the majority of circumstances, it is not capable of keeping drivers seated. If you’re searching for something a little more nimble, Nissan’s SR trim level is the only one that features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. This engine is unique because it has cutting-edge variable compression technology. This allows it to swing between high and low compression for better fuel economy and performance.

Nissan claims the turbocharged engine produces 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque when fueled with 93 octane gasoline. However, this engine is limited in two ways. The first is the lack of all-wheel drive, which would significantly improve handling by limiting torque steer and providing enough grip to inspire you to accelerate harder. Torque steer, on the other hand, is unaffected by the Altima’s standard CVT transmission. Nothing, as a test drive demonstrates, impairs the exact sense of driving quite like a CVT transmission. VC-Turbo engine: Smooth and strong, but there is a noticeable delay between pressing the accelerator and getting a speed boost. Nissan made this engine.
